Mahalaxmi ( Nepali महालक्ष्मी ) is a city ( municipality ) in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal and belongs to the Kathmandu metropolitan area .
The city is located in the northeast of the Lalitpur district and borders the city of Kirtipur and the district capital Lalitpur in the northwest . Karyabinayak was created at the end of 2014 through the merger of the Village Development Committees (VDCs) Imadol , Lamatar , Lubhu , Siddhipur and Tikathali . The city was named after the Mahalaxmi temple.
Residents
At the 2011 census, the VDCs that made up the city of Mahalaxmi had 62,172 inhabitants (31,071 male) in 14,930 households.
