Main bridge Hasloch
The Main Bridge Hasloch is a railway bridge on the Miltenberg – Wertheim railway line that spans the Main and Flurwege. It is located between Hasloch (in the Main-Spessart district in Bavaria ) and Wertheim - Besteheid (in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg ) on the Main kilometer 155.55.
History and description
The 244 meter long structure was erected in 1911. The northern abutment is located at 28,806 kilometers. The steel bridge follows the Wertheim train station and the Wertheim-Besteheid stop in the direction of Hasloch and crosses the Main. An additional, narrow pedestrian crossing running parallel to the track connects both sides of the river. The southern part of the bridge lies in the district of Wertheim-Besteheid (the core town of Wertheim ) and the northern part of the bridge lies in the district of Hasloch.
The bridge was destroyed during the Second World War and rebuilt in the post-war period . From May 1945 until the rebuilding of the destroyed Main and Tauber bridges, Wertheim station also had a ferry across the Main (as a replacement rail service) to Kreuzwertheim .
Above the Main, the bridge consists of three long superstructures that are designed as half-timbered structures with strut frameworks with posts and a track below. The middle superstructure is longer than the other two and has curved upper chords. The upper chords are connected with a wind bracing. The short approach bridges with three fields on the Hasloch side and one on the Wertheim side are beam constructions with an overhead carriageway.
