The Mainspitz triangle is a motorway triangle in the Rhine-Main area and a busy road junction in Hesse . It is a junction between the A 60 and the A 671 located southeast of Ginsheim-Gustavsburg in the area of the municipality of Bischofsheim . It belongs to the Mainzer Ring . It got its name from the nearby Mainspitze , the area south of the confluence of the Main and the Rhine .
expansion
The Mainspitz triangle was expanded in the early to mid-2000s, as was the Weisenauer Bridge . Coming from the Weisenauer Brücke, the number of lanes increases from three to five. The two new right-hand lanes are used exclusively for the Ginsheim-Gustavsburg junction and the following Mainspitz triangle. The division of the traffic flow is necessary because the bridge piers of the old bridge structures of the L 3040 and the Mainspitz triangle are between the lanes and it is no longer possible to classify them later. Where the traffic originally passed from the A 60 to the A 671 , there is now the transition for road users who have entered the Ginsheim-Gustavsburg junction onto the A 60. By adding the two lanes, the curve radius has increased the A 671 has been reduced in size so that it is no longer possible to drive through at 100 km / h. A speed limit, for example to 60 km / h, is still not available at this point.
The directional lanes Rüsselsheim in the direction of Mainz on the A 60 will increase from two to three after the traffic in the direction of Wiesbaden has been diverted to the A 671. Due to the complete closure of the Schiersteiner Bridge in spring 2015, the right lane in the area of the Mainspitz triangle was opened to traffic on the A 60 withdrawn in order to take into account the increased volume of traffic from the A 671 to the A 60 in the direction of Mainz with two lanes.
Traffic volume
The triangle was used by around 98,000 vehicles every day in 2010.
