The Weisenauer Brücke is a 900-meter-long, six-lane motorway bridge on the A 60 between Mainz-Weisenau and Ginsheim-Gustavsburg that crosses the Rhine and was built by the MAN Gustavsburg plant between 1961 and 1962 .

It is one of the three road bridges over the Rhine that connect the Rhineland-Palatinate state capital Mainz with Hesse . The other two road bridges are the Theodor-Heuss-Brücke , which is located downstream, and the Schiersteiner Brücke ( A 643 ), which is further down the Rhine .

The next road bridge up the Rhine is the Nibelungen Bridge in Worms , the next motorway bridge is the Theodor-Heuss-Brücke ( A6 ) near Frankenthal .

The Weisenauer Brücke is the most important bridge on the Rhine-Hessian side in the Frankfurt am Main conurbation . The Frankfurt airport , the Commerzbank Arena and Frankfurt Trade Fair are easily accessible across the bridge from Mainz.

The three-span river bridge is a steel structure and 409.40 m long. The spans are 73.70 m and 131.76 m in the peripheral fields and 203.94 m in the main field.

On both sides there is a combined foot and bike path across the Rhine between Mainz-Weisenau / Laubenheim and Ginsheim-Gustavsburg.

Refurbishment as part of the Mainzer Ring expansion

The renovation and expansion of the Weisenauer Bridge was completed in spring 2003. Under administration of the country Rhineland-Palatinate standing motorway bridge was in its supporting construction strengthened and widened by both sides 0.75 meters. This was necessary in order to be able to expand it to six lanes . Inside and outside it received a new corrosion protection . In addition, the sealing, the road surface and the expansion joints were renewed. The expansion to six lanes improved the traffic management between the Mainz-Laubenheim and Ginsheim-Gustavsburg junctions and increased the traffic efficiency. The costs amounted to around 15.3 million euros (today, due to inflation, this would correspond to around 19.3 million euros).
