Makowiska is a village of Gmina Nowy Żmigród in the Jasielski powiat in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland .

The place is located on the Toczek stream, in the Sanok lowlands , 5 km east of Nowy Żmigród . The neighboring towns are Nienaszów in the north, Sulistrowa and Draganowa in the east, Łysa Góra in the southwest, and Siedliska Żmigrodzkie in the west.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1350 as the parish Macoviszcz . The name is derived from the appellative makowisko ( poppy meadow ).

The place initially belonged to the Kingdom of Poland (from 1569 in the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania to the Krakow Voivodeship , Biecz district ). The local church was changed to an Arian prayer house during the Reformation under the village owners Bolkowski and Jakub Warszycki . H. of the Polish Brothers , but she was neglected.

With the first partition of Poland , Makowiska came to the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804). After the abolition of patrimonial it became a parish in the Jasło district .

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Makowiska came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Makowiska was part of the Krosno Voivodeship .
