The Royal Malaysian Navy (malay: Tentera Laut DiRaja Malaysia ) is part of the Malaysian Armed Forces . In its current form, it was founded in 1963 together with the State of Malaysia , but it sees itself in direct descent from the Straits Settlement Naval Volunteer Reserve, which was founded under British colonial rule in 1934 .

The area of responsibility of the navy is divided into three areas, each of which is monitored by a command command ( MAWILLA - Markas Wilayah Laut ). The highest ranking marine is the Panglima Tentera Laut (Eng. "Commander of the Navy"), currently this post is held by Admiral Abdul Aziz Jaafar . An air base for helicopters of Marine is located in Lumut in Perak state . The Navy also has a combat swimmer unit, the Pasukan Khas Laut (PASKAL).
