research

Until the late 1970s, Faber focused on neo-Austrian capital theory and intertemporal general equilibrium theory . The emergence of the environmental crisis prompted him to deal primarily with environmental-economic problems and the philosophical foundation of economics. In doing so, he pursues an interdisciplinary research approach that aims to combine economic theory with concepts from the natural sciences and the humanities. The interdisciplinary research group around Malte Faber, sometimes referred to as the Heidelberg School of Ecological Economy , has produced numerous new concepts and approaches to the economic , ethical , epistemological , political and methodological questions in environmental research since 1983 . Especially worth mentioning is the concepts of joint production from thermodynamic point of view, of ignorance , of responsibility , of justice and of homo politicus and the theory of stocks and the theory of funds.
