history
Sachrang belonged to the Chiemgau endowment of the Salzburg suffragan diocese Chiemsee, established in 1215 . In the 13th century, the "Salzburg" Rüdiger von Walchen built a fortification and a tower, which, however, had to be demolished again by a decree of the Bavarian dukes because they considered the building to be illegally erected on Aschau territory. In the 15th century, the bishop enfeoffed the Freyberg family with material rank, which replaced the feudal rights in 1529 by purchase. The change from church property to aristocratic rule was complete. Sachrang belonged to the Hohenaschau ruling court and was a separate office of this rulership, to which another 14 settlements were subject. Around the middle of the 18th century, the place consisted of eight properties. In 1827 (1829?) The rule of the Counts of Preysing at Hohenaschau Castle ended . The municipality Sachrang, which had become independent, was incorporated into the municipality of Aschau im Chiemgau on May 1, 1978 in the course of the Bavarian regional reform . The community had an area of 3898.97 hectares and consisted of 15 districts. Today the area forms the Sachrang district within the municipality of Aschau im Chiemgau. For the census on May 25, 1987, the former municipality with the 15 districts had a total of 571 inhabitants, 227 of them in the parish village of Sachrang.
Sachrang has been part of the international alpine association initiative Bergsteigerdörfer since 2017 . In 2018 , the responsible local authority of Aschau im Chiemgau was the first mountaineering village in the Sachrang district to put up appropriate place-name signs .
Catholic Parish Church of St. Michael
The center of the village is the baroque church of St. Michael. The first church was Romanesque ; the current building was built in 1687/88 according to plans by Giovanni Gaspare Zuccalli and Lorenzo Sciasca with funds from Count Preysing von Hohenaschau. On August 31, 1689, the Prince-Bishop of Chiemsee, Sigmund Ignaz Graf Wolkenstein, consecrated the new church. The ceiling painting comes from Simon Zaglacher from 1768. In 1806 the branch church was upgraded to a parish church.
The church was used as the location for the ZDF comedy Der Bergpfarrer with Stephan Luca in the lead role.
museum
The Müllner-Peter-Museum , set up by the municipality of Aschau and the museum association Müllner-Peter-von-Sachrang, opened in 2001 on the top floor of the former school building (Schulstraße 3). On the first floor of the building is the teacher's (Max) Hickl room with furniture and exhibits from 1910. A medicinal herb garden has been laid out at the house and the former classrooms are used for a kindergarten.
