Mama is the second solo album by the German rapper MoTrip . It was released on June 19, 2015 via the Universal Music label as a standard and limited deluxe edition, including a bonus EP , instrumentals , t-shirt, rhyming book, stickers and posters.

Most of the album was produced by music producer duo David Ruoff and ELI.
Cover design
The album cover shows text printed in black on a white background, starting with the word Mama . The other words are crossed out in black or red, with the exception of the word MoTrip . The text is taken from the song Gegenwart and includes both the last six lines of the main stanza and the refrain.
Guest Posts
In addition to MoTrip, other artists are represented on six songs on the album. The rapper arrest warrant can be heard in the title song Mama , while Sido has a guest appearance on the track Kaltes Wasser . The singer Lary supports MoTrip with Just like you are . The piece Lauf der Zeit is a collaboration with the rappers Azad and Manuellsen . MoTrip's brother Elmo (on hype ) and rapper Samy Deluxe (on fan ) are also featured on the album.
Furthermore, other artists can be heard on five songs of the Alien EP of the deluxe edition. A collaboration with Aki, Biso and Mighty Mike arrived , while MoTrip's long-time companions JokA and Silla are represented in the song Universal . The rappers Ali As and Fabian Römer support MoTrip on the tracks Muhammad Ali and Angst . The singer Lito also has a guest post at home .

Mama entered the German album charts at number 3 on June 26, 2015, which is MoTrip's highest chart success to date. It stayed in the top 100 for 16 weeks. In the German annual charts for 2015, the sound carrier was ranked 66th.
On May 8, 2015, the song Mathematik , for which a music video was released the day before , was released as a single for download . Further singles followed with Trip and Wie ein Dealer on June 5 and 16, 2015. The song So wie du bist was not officially released as a single, but initially rose to number 51 in the German charts due to the high number of downloads. After the song was used as background music for a Beats by Dre commercial with Bastian Schweinsteiger as the main actor, the song even rose to number 3 and later received a platinum record for more than 400,000 units sold . A video for Just like you are , in which Lena Meyer-Landrut plays, was released on July 20, 2015. On October 1 and November 16, 2015, music videos for the songs Mama and Selfless were also released. In addition, a video for the song Versus was released on February 19, 2016 , which is included on the bonus EP.

- The online magazine laut.de gave the album four out of a possible five points and particularly emphasized the lyrics and atmosphere of the songs:
“ Perfectionism and high demands on oneself certainly did not make the creation process easy. But the result, in its mixture of self-confidence and thoughtfulness, ties in seamlessly with the predecessor and even goes a step further. The most remarkable thing is that you don't listen to "Mama" in any way whatsoever about the undoubtedly arduous workload. The native of Aachen lightly presents nested rhymes, packs the stories in countless linguistic images and exudes his sympathetic charisma in passing. [...] "Mama" may not be a perfect album, but the protagonist shines with his feel for the right words, flow, use of voices, choice of beats and versatility and makes some colleagues look old. "
- Aria Nejati from Hiphop.de sees the album as an important step within the German hiphop culture. MoTrip would strike the roots of German rap "deep enough so that the culture doesn't get out of hand" . The album is "a settlement with the scene, an outlet for frustration and anger about everything that has happened since Embryo " . With the conveyed mentality MoTrip "almost never makes mistakes" and gives "his appeal for more substance and seriousness a sincere and credible foundation" .
- Oliver Marquart wrote for rap.de that it is "a well-composed album that is never constructed" and that it follows "a common thread that is of course loosely spun enough that no monotony arises" . The instrumentals are also "not too intrusive" and leave " MoTrip enough space to show off his skills" .
- Sven Aumiller from MZEE.com particularly praised the lyrical depth of MoTrips on the album:
" All in all," Mama "shows impressively how one can couple technically impressive battlerap with authentic lyrics. If you then rap as well as the Aachener, it becomes clear once again that waiting can be worthwhile in the end. For the future, after listening to his second album, MoTrip can only give one piece of advice that he has already internalized: "Let the other people change and stay the way you are." "
