Manfred Jochum

Manfred Jochum (born April 21, 1942 in Vienna ; † July 10, 2009 there ) was an Austrian broadcasting director . From the late 1960s to the early 1970s he worked as an educator in the Wilhelminenberg children's home and other homes in the city of Vienna.

biography

Although he was born in Vienna, Jochum grew up in Carinthia and Burgenland , where he completed compulsory school. From 1963 to 1972 he worked as a specialist in the educational service in homes of MA 11 for school children with difficult upbringing in Vienna on Wilhelminenberg and also in the Hohe Warte home, where sexual assaults were also on the agenda in addition to acts of violence. He then studied educational science at the University of Vienna and obtained his license as a teacher at an elementary school . He then worked as an assistant at the Institute for Educational Sciences and also acted as a lecturer at the University of Vienna.

In 1976 Jochum switched to ORF radio , where he initially worked in the science department; In 1983 he was largely responsible for setting up the Radio College , which he headed until 1992. In 1992 he also took over the management of the science department, and in 1998 he was promoted to radio director. In 2002 Jochum left his position.

Jochum died on July 10th, 2009 after a long and serious illness. He was buried in the cemetery of the Simmering fire hall in Vienna.
