Manfred Juraczka (born January 16, 1969 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From 2011 to 2015 he was a non-executive Viennese city councilor in the provincial government of Häupl V and from 2012 to 2015 regional party chairman of the ÖVP Vienna. From November 2015 to June 2018 he was their club chairman.

Life

Juraczka joined the Young People's Party as a student , where he was, among other things, district chairman for Hernals . After graduating from high school, he studied journalism and political science at the University of Vienna (degree: Mag. Phil.), And was also a member of parliament. He switched to the PR industry, from 2004 to September 2011 he was Marketing & Sales Manager at Alcatel-Lucent . He held various functions in the ÖAAB , since 2003 he has been district party chairman of the ÖVP Hernals, and from 2007 to 2010 he was also deputy district chairman there .

In September 2011 he was sworn in as a non-executive city councilor, succeeding Wolfgang Gerstl , who moved to the National Council. In December 2011, the ÖVP announced that Juraczka would succeed Gabriele Tamandl (who had held the post on an interim basis since Christine Marek resigned ) as regional party leader. On February 25, 2012, he was officially elected as regional party leader.

On the evening of the 2015 municipal council elections in Vienna , he announced his resignation after the poor performance of the ÖVP. The previous Secretary General of the Federal ÖVP, Gernot Blümel, was appointed as his successor . Five days later he succeeded Fritz Aichinger as club chairman . After halfway through the legislative period, Elisabeth Olischar took over this function on June 5, 2018 .
