Manfred Pietsch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Manfred Pietsch (born February 1, 1936 in Bernstadt an der Weide , Province of Silesia , † July 24, 2015 in Berlin ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Life

After being expelled from Silesia as a result of World War II , Manfred Pietsch came to Annahütte in Niederlausitz . There he spent childhood and youth. From 1956 to 1960 he studied at the Technical University of Dresden Building . This is also where the roots of his artistic development lay, because in 1958 Ernst Hassebrauk became his important initiator and mentor . That is why, in addition to his work as a graduate engineer in Berlin institutions, from 1963 he started evening studies at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art . Harald Metzkes and Dieter Goltzsche became important artistic companions. In 1977 Manfred Pietsch dared to work as a freelancer. The joy of expressing himself with different techniques, the experiment with form, color and material led the painter to an exciting polystyle . Coming from the tradition of Carl Blechen and Adolph Menzel , he found his own visual language that was driven into the abstract.

Manfred Pietsch died in Berlin in 2015 and was buried in Dorotheenstädtischer Friedhof I.
