The list of the team cadres of the Swiss 1st Bundesliga in chess 2008/09 contains all players who were registered for the Swiss Federal Chess League 2008/09 .
The eight participating clubs could register a maximum of 20 players, but not all clubs fully exhausted the registration quota. Niederrohrdorf and the chess club Birsfelden / Beider Basel contented themselves with the registration of 19 players each. Not all reported players were also used. Basel BVB managed with 12 players, Lugano CS had a total of 17 players play at least one competition. A total of 115 players were used, 16 of whom played in all competitions.
Players from 10 nations were registered, with the majority of the foreigners coming from the neighboring countries of Germany, France and Italy.
The best individual result was achieved by Julien Carron (Valais) with 5.5 points from 7 games, Bernhard Lutz (Basel BVB), Branko Filipović (SV Birsfelden / Beider Basel) and Gerard Nüesch (Valais) achieved half a point less , with Lutz 6 games played, Filipovič and Nüesch each 7. With André Hirzel, Erich Lang, Othmar Monsch (all ASK Winterthur), Dennis Eschbach, Stefan Bouclainville (both Niederrohrdorf) and Milorad Novosel (Basel BVB), six players achieved 100% of the possible points, but contested this only a few competitions. Hirzel played two games, the other named players one each, with Monsch winning without a fight on his only mission.
The oldest player of the season was Antonio Schneider (* 1933), who played for Lugano CS, and Jonathan Tardeur (* 1993) was the youngest player to play for Valais.
