Manolito Mario Franz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Manolito Mario Franz (born March 18, 1978 in Kaiserslautern ; also known as Manolito ) is a German opera singer (tenor).

Life

Youth and education

Manolito Mario Franz was born in 1978 as the second child in Germany. The offspring of a family of musicians with Neapolitan roots inherited the tenor voice of his grandfather Romeo Dela Rosa, who - just when he was about to start at La Scala in Milan - had to break off his career due to the turmoil of the Second World War and died early.

Manolito's father was a big opera fan, whose collection of Mario Lanza records inspired Manolito from an early age. It was clear early on that Manolito would follow in his grandfather's footsteps, because by the age of five he knew all the lyrics from his father's record collection by heart. He and his brother started taking piano lessons of their own accord at the age of eight.

He made his first public appearances at the age of 12 in a Viennese Heurigen restaurant , where he accompanied himself on the piano and sang Viennese Schrammel songs .

Professional career / musical career

The tenor Manolito Mario Franz had his first engagement from 1998 to 1999 at the State Theater Saarbrücken and from 1999 to 2004 was a permanent member of the Bavarian State Opera . Guest engagements took him to Austria ( Salzburg ) as “Don Ottavio”, “Fenton” and “Belmonte”. He was celebrated on the international concert stage as “Tamino” as well as “Don Ottavio” and as a Mozart interpreter he was also successful in the Netherlands ( Amsterdam / Rotterdam ), France ( Strasbourg ) and Luxembourg . In 2008 he made his role debut as "Herodes" in the Stadttheater Bremerhaven . In Salome , nominated by the specialist magazine “Opernwelt” , he proved that he is up to both the lyrical and the dramatic subject. With "... admirable diction ..." is just one of the consistently good reviews that the young tenor received for his interpretation of Herod.

In order to cultivate his voice, he always likes to return to “Mozart” and most recently sang the role of “ Don Ottavio ” at the inauguration of the new Rotterdam concert building “De Doelen ”. In 2010 he made his debut as Samson ( Samson and Delilah ) in the Stadttheater Bremerhaven. Immediately afterwards he was heard there in the modern opera “Melusine” by Aribert Reimann .

In 2011 he sang Raskolnikoff in Heinrich Sutermeister 's opera of the same name in Schleswig-Holstein . In 2012 Manolito decided to expand his musical horizons beyond classical music. His crossover productions have their very own Latino style. It could best be compared to a mixture of Buena Vista Social Club , Toni Bennet , Luis Miguel and Mario Lanza .
