Manolo Monterrey
Manuel "Manolo" Dagoberto Alemán Monterrey (born March 10, 1914 in Santa Clara , † August 25, 1997 in Caracas ) was a Venezuelan singer and composer of Cuban origin.
Monterrey performed in Cuba until he was 24 years old. In 1938 he moved to Venezuela and founded a trio in Caracas with which he performed Cuban music. During this time he also began to work as a composer. He became known with the radio program El Cronista Pildorín , which he realized with Víctor Saume . With Marucha Henríquez , known as “Perla Negra”, he founded the successful duo La Perla Negra y Manolo .
In 1942 Luis Alfonzo Larrain brought him to his Gran Orquesta de Baile , which u. a. also Ada Alba , Carmen Chirinos , Flor Díaz , Trino Finol , Luisín Landáez , Marco Tulio Maristani , Kiko Mendive , Graciela Naranjo , Juanito Renot , Rafa Robles , Elio Rubio , Leo Rodríguez , Hilda Salazar , Mario Suárez , Carlos Torres , Tony Camargo and Orlando Vallejo belonged to. As a composer he was successful with the song Te caigo a tiros in the version by Luisín Landáez.
In 1945 Monterrey joined as successor to Victor Pérez ' Billo Frómetas Caracas Boys , to which he belonged until the group was dissolved in 1956. He also appeared in programs such as A Gozar Muchachos , Refresco Musical Coca Cola , La Canción Palmolive , Gran Reserva Musical , Fiesta Fabulosa , Variedades Esso and La Caravana Camel between 1945 and 1956 . In 1957 he founded the Los Guaracheros de Manolo group with Rafa Galindo and Stelio Bosch , with which he toured Central America.
After this group broke up, he joined Chucho Sanojas Orquesta de Solistas , where he alternated with singers such as Nelson Pinedo , Kiko Mendive , Pipo Rivas , Daniel Montesdeoca , Baldomero León , Yeyo , Alci Sánchez , Elisa Soteldo , Rafa Galindo , Chico Salas , Víctor Piñero , Víctor Pérez , Héctor Barinas , Alberto Beltrán , Tony Camargo and Paula Bellini . In 1962 the impresario Renato Capriles brought him to the Guaracha group Los Melódicos .
