Mansour Hobeika

Mansour Hobeika (born December 20, 1941 in Hadeth-Baalbek , Bekka Governorate , Lebanon , † October 28, 2014 in Paris ) was bishop of the Maronite eparchy of Zahlé .

Life

After graduating from school in Ghazir, Mansour Hobeika studied philosophy and theology at the Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut from 1962 to 1968 . He holds degrees in literary studies, psychology and philosophy, and theology. He was ordained a priest on June 9, 1968 . He then studied canon law at the Istituto per l'Oriente Carlo Alfonso Nallino in Rome and received his doctorate in oriental canon law at the Angelicum in Rome . He taught at the Lebanese University of La Sagesse , completed a course in Islamic studies and spoke French, Italian, German and English in addition to Arabic.

At the age of 60, on September 12, 2002, Mansour Hobeika was appointed Bishop of Zahlé by Pope John Paul II . The solemn episcopal ordination took place on October 26, 2002 by Cardinal Nasrallah Pierre Sfeir ; Co- consecrators were the bishops Roland Aboujaoudé and Chucrallah Harb .
