Manuel Lenz (born October 23, 1984 in Herne ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper and today's goalkeeping coach .

Career

Lenz began his career at SV Sodingen and VfL Bochum before playing for the youth teams of FC Schalke 04 until 2003 . After that he was part of the squad of the second team at FC Schalke 04 for two years. In 2005 he moved to Wuppertaler SV Borussia , where he did not become a regular goalkeeper. For the 2007/08 season he moved to Rot Weiss Ahlen and was a regular goalkeeper there during the promotion season. On August 17, 2008, he played his first game in the 2nd Bundesliga against FSV Frankfurt . After the first half of the season he lost his post to Dirk Langerbein and in the 2009/10 season he was number 2 behind Sascha Kirschstein . For the 2010/11 season Lenz moved to Preußen Münster , where he first prevailed against David Buchholz and was number 1, but had to give up his place in goal from the 6th matchday onwards to Buchholz. For the 2011/12 season he moved to the NRW division KFC Uerdingen 05 . After KFC Uerdingen missed the qualification for the new Regionalliga West , Lenz moved to SSVg Velbert . There he stayed two seasons. When the relegation from the regional league was sealed in Velbert in 2014, Lenz joined the Westphalian upper division club Hammer SpVg . After one and a half years as a regular goalkeeper in Hamm, the now 31-year-old decided to take on a new role: Lenz has been under contract with Rot-Weiss Essen as goalkeeping coach since January 2016 .
