Manuel Rieke (born October 23, 1982 in Potsdam ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .
Career
Indoor volleyball
Born in Potsdam, he began his volleyball career in 1991 in his hometown at WSG Potsdam Waldstadt. Then he played in the junior team of VC Olympia Berlin . In 2001 Rieke moved to the Bundesliga club SCC Berlin and became two-time German champions here in 2003 and 2004 as a second player with good serves . In the 2004/05 season he reached the last sixteen of the Champions League , where they eliminated against Paris Volley . In 2004 and 2005 Rieke made it to the German Cup final with the SCC and lost to VfB Friedrichshafen . In 2005 he moved to local rivals Netzhoppers Königs Wusterhausen and also became team captain there. In 2009 he surprisingly made the leap into the Bundesliga play-off semi-finals with the Netzhoppers , where Generali Haching was eliminated. In the summer of 2009 and 2010, Manuel Rieke was also active in the national team and achieved first place in the European league in 2009 and ninth place in the world league in 2010 . In 2016 Rieke ended his active indoor career.
beach volleyball
In addition to his indoor career, Rieke also plays beach volleyball in summer. With Hannes Ambelang he reached fifth place in the U21 World Championship in Catania in 2002 and won the bronze medal at the U23 European Championship in Stare Jabłonki in 2003 . In 2006 he played two tournaments in the German series with Marcus Popp and won both in Binz and in Sankt Peter-Ording . At the side of Tilo Backhaus , he finished fifth at the German Championships in Timmendorfer Strand in 2008 . In 2011 Rieke played with Sebastian Prüsener . Her best results were two fifth places in German tournaments.
Trainer
In the 2016/17 season Rieke was the coach of the Bundesliga women from Köpenicker SC .
