German Volleyball Bundesliga 2008/09 (men)

The 2008/09 season of the volleyball Bundesliga began on October 1, 2008 and ended on May 7, 2009. Defending champion VfB Friedrichshafen became German champions for the tenth time .

Teams

This season the following thirteen teams played in the first division:

VfB Friedrichshafen started as the defending champion. TV Rottenburg returned to the Bundesliga after a year in the second division (2007/08 season), while TSV Giesen / Hildesheim was represented in the top German division for the first time. The Wuppertal Titans are the successor to SV Bayer Wuppertal . At the VC Olympia Berlin, the youth national team played "out of competition" because this team could neither participate in the play-off games nor be relegated.
