German Volleyball Bundesliga 2006/07 (men)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2006/07 season of the volleyball Bundesliga began on September 16, 2006 and ended on May 5, 2007. VfB Friedrichshafen became German champions for the eighth time .

Teams

This season the following twelve teams played in the first division:

VfB Friedrichshafen started as the defending champion. Since Leipzig merged with VC Markranstädt , Delitzsch moved up. Königs Wusterhausen and Rottenburg also came from the second division. The VC Olympia Berlin, in which the German youth national team is gathered, played to a certain extent "out of competition" because the results counted like all the others, but the team was excluded from the play-off games and the decision about relegation.

Season course

Friedrichshafen gave the only sets in their own hall in the 2: 3 home defeat against Berlin and qualified as the leader of the table for the playoffs. As in the previous year, runner-up Düren took second place in the main round. Of the three climbers, Königs Wusterhausen managed to stay in the league, while Rottenburg and Delitzsch had to return to the second division.

In the quarter-finals, VfB, Düren and Berlin had two games in the best-of-three series , while Unterhaching only prevailed in the decider against Wuppertal. The same four teams qualified for the semi-finals as in the previous year. For the third time in a row there was a duel between Düren and Berlin, which evivo was able to win again. The SCC finally came in third. In the final series, Düren failed to win a set against Friedrichshafen. Thus, VfB, which had previously won the DVV Cup and was the first German team to win the Champions League , achieved the triple.
