Maoulida Darouèche (born February 7, 1990 ) is a Comorian athlete who specializes in 400 m hurdles and has also contested javelin competitions . Darouèche participated in the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Olympics. He also took part in two World Athletics Championships , an African Athletics Championships and once in the Jeux de la Francophonie .

Career

Darouèche's international competition debut took place in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He was drawn into the fourth preliminary run, in which the later bronze medalist Javier Culson also ran. Darouèche ran the distance in 53.49 s and was last in his prelim and at the same time the slowest runner in the preliminary round, in which three runners were however disqualified. Darouèche was 3.36 seconds behind the slowest participant who qualified for the semifinals and was eliminated.

The following year he took part in the 2013 World Athletics Championships in the 400-meter hurdles. Darouèche ran in the second heat and achieved a time of 53.28 seconds. His time was 3.41 seconds slower than that of the winner of the second heat, Omar Cisneros from Cuba and the slowest time of all participants in the heat of the competition. In September 2013 he ran the 400 meter hurdles in 53.75 s at the Jeux de la Francophonie 2013 . With this time he was 0.98 seconds faster than the slowest participant in the competition, Lebanese Ali Hazer .

Darouèche's next big competition was the 2014 African Athletics Championships in Marrakech . Here he was disqualified in the 400 meter hurdles because he did not cross the hurdle with his foot (rule 168.7 (a)). The 2015 World Athletics Championships was Darouèche's second World Cup participation. With 53.06 s he achieved the slowest time of all participants in the heats in the 400-meter run. In 2016 in Rio de Janeiro , Darouèche again took part in the Olympic 400-meter hurdles . Darouèche started in the second run, in which the later bronze medalist Yasmani Copello also took part. Darouèche took 52.32 s for the route. Darouèche's time was the second slowest of the 46 starters to finish the heats, and only Jeffery Gibson of the Bahamas finished later.

In his career Darouèche also competed in javelin throwing; his best performance in this discipline is 53.97 m, which he achieved in Miramas , France .
