María del Carmen Díaz

María del Carmen Díaz ( María del Carmen "Maricarmen" Díaz Mancilla; born July 15, 1970 ) is a former Mexican long-distance runner .

In 1989 she won the Central American and Caribbean Athletics Championships over 3000 m and the Corrida Internacional de São Silvestre . In the following year, a 75th place at the Cross Country World Championships in Aix-les-Bains, a double victory over 3000 m and 10,000 m at the Central America and Caribbean Games, a double victory and the title defense at the Corrida Internacional de São Silvestre.

In 1991 she won the Pan American Games in Havana over 10,000 m and won silver over 3,000 m. At the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo , she was eliminated over 10,000 m in the preliminary run.

In 1992 she triumphed for the third time at the Corrida Internacional de São Silvestre, and in 1993 she won the Mexico City Marathon and the Central America and Caribbean Games over 10,000 m.

In 1995 she won silver over 5000 m and bronze over 10,000 m at the Pan American Games in Mar del Plata , again won the Mexico City Marathon and came 19th at the World Half Marathon Championships in Montbéliard .

The following year she won the Corrida Internacional de San Fernando, was third in the Los Angeles Marathon and second in the Rotterdam Marathon . At Marathon the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, she took the 33rd place in Mexico City Marathon, she defended her title, and the Cancun Marathon she finished fourth.

1997 was followed by an eleventh place in the Boston Marathon , another victory in Mexico City. In 1998 she won the Guadalajara Marathon and came second in Mexico City. In 1999 she finished second in Guadalajara, fourth in the Maratón de la Comarca Lagunera and second in Mexico City. In 2000, a second place at Guadalajara was followed by a win at the Maratón Pacífico.
