Marc Gerson (born October 26, 1954 in Luxembourg ) is a former Luxembourg, French and Swiss volleyball and beach volleyball player and today's coach.

Career

Marc Gerson was initially a multiple national champion of Luxembourg as a high jumper . In the 1970s he played indoor volleyball and was also here several times Luxembourgish champion. In addition, he was Luxembourg's record national volleyball player. He later moved to France and played a. a. at Racing Club de France and Arago de Sète , where he won the French Cup in 1976.

He was also used in the French national team.

Since 1978 Gerson was active in Germany at Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Friedrichshafen . With Leverkusen he was German champion in 1979 , with Friedrichshafen he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga in 1984 as a player- coach . From 1987 to 1990 he was coach (until 1989 player coach) at the Swiss NLA club TSV Jona . At the same time he was also the head coach of the Swiss national team . From 1990 to 1996 he coached the men from MTV Näfels , with whom he won the Swiss Cup in 1996 and was promoted to the NLA. At the same time, Gerson also played beach volleyball and became Swiss champion in 1993 alongside Daniel Stauffer . From 1998 to 2005 Gerson was the coach of the volleyball women of Zeiler Köniz , with whom he was five times Swiss champion and three times Swiss Cup winner and in 2003 he was in the final of the European Top Teams Cup . He also looked after the Swiss beach volleyball duo Heyer / Laciga . From 2006 to 2010 Gerson was the coach of the men from Swica Volley Münsingen , where his son Mirco also played. Since then, he has also looked after the Swiss national beach volleyball teams Gabathuler / Gerson , Chevallier / Strasser and Kovatsch / Kissling . Since 2013, Gerson has also been back at the gym at the Swiss women's first division club VBC Münsingen , where his daughter Dunja also plays.

Private

Marc Gerson is married to the former volleyball and beach volleyball player Cornelia Gerson . He is a sports teacher at the Bern Commercial Industrial Vocational School and lives in Belp . His children Mirco and Dunja are also successful in volleyball / beach volleyball. His uncle Gérson de Oliveira Nunes was part of the Brazilian soccer team that became world champions in 1970.
