Marcel Magis (born September 24, 1965 in St. Gallen ; † May 7, 2018 ) was a German writer .

Career

After being born in Switzerland, Magis received German citizenship in Munich , where he grew up until he was five. Then came Hanover.

In the mid-80s he moved around Kurt Morawietz and Joachim Grünhagen , who vouched for him at the Hanover Art Association , from which he received the Reimar-Dahlgrün Prize of 1,000 DM in 1986 .

From 1990 to 1991 he was editor of the cultural magazine Positions, which appeared for over five years and has maintained editorial offices in Vienna and Berlin in recent years . The most prominent authors were Friedhelm Kändler and Bodo Hell . In 2001 he moved to the Byteburg am Rhein in Bad Breisig to work with Kai Krause . Paris followed briefly in 2002 , later Berlin and finally Hildesheim.

At the end of 2003, Magis began writing short literary stories for the specialist magazines MacNewsPaper and Mac Life , which appeared monthly until the end of 2007. In mid-2005, Brandneu-Verlag published the book “My Life with Mitsu”, which was illustrated by Iris Luckhaus . Kai Krause wrote the foreword. At the end of 2005 he staged the nationwide first play for the deaf and hearing for the city of Hanover in honor of Kurt Morawietz in the municipal cinema in Hanover with the sign poet Wiebke Kögel and Alban Nikolai Herbst . In mid-2007 his columns from Mac Life were published as an audio book "Lovebits" by SinTakt-Verlag.

From May 2010 he published his second novel "In the shadow of the flapping of wings" on Twitter .

At the end of April 2012, all of the Marc Maus columns were published for the first time as an e-book on Amazon with a preliminary remark by Peter Glaser .

From 2015 Kite and Jean was published as a novel - work in progress - in weekly installments.
