Marcel Perrier

Marcel Germain Perrier (born June 28, 1933 in Arêches , Savoie , France , † October 2, 2017 in Moûtiers ) was a French clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Pamiers .

Life

Marcel Perrier was one of 11 children from a farming family. Like one of his brothers, he became a priest and entered the Chambéry seminary. At the age of 24 he was ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Chambéry on June 29, 1957 and was a pastor in Albertville, then chaplain of the Lycée Jean Moulin. In 1965 he was appointed pastor of Cevins, Notre-Dame-de-Briançon and the surrounding parishes. 1975 Perrier became vicar general of the diocese of Tarentaise . In 1980 he went back to pastoral care in Bourg St Maurice and was again vicar general from 1984 to 1987.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Diana and auxiliary bishop in Chambéry on April 15, 1988 . The Archbishop of Chambéry, Claude Feidt , donated him episcopal ordination on July 17th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Hubert Barbier , Bishop of Annecy , and Eugène Lecrosnier , Bishop of Belfort-Montbéliard .

On May 16, 2000 he was appointed Bishop of Pamiers. On June 24, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
