Albert-Marie de Monléon

Albert-Marie Joseph Cyrille de Monléon OP (born January 20, 1937 in Paris , France , † April 29, 2019 ) was a French religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Meaux .

Life

Albert-Marie de Monléon was born in Paris in 1937. His father Jacques de Monléon was a philosophy professor at the Institut Catholique de Paris and at the Laval University in Québec . In 1957 he entered the Dominican Order in France and made his first profession on September 29, 1958 . He studied Catholic theology in France and the USA and completed his studies with a licentiate . On July 5, 1964, he was ordained a priest . From 1974 to 1988 he was theological and spiritual guide of the newly founded Emmanuel Community ; from 1982 to 1988 also the first person in charge of priests and seminarians within the community.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Pamiers on August 5, 1988 . The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop André Collini of Toulouse on 1 October of that year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Limoges , Léon Soulier , and the Bishop of Metz , Pierre Raffin OP. On August 17, 1999 he was appointed Bishop of Meaux by John Paul II. He was a member of the Faith Commission of the French Bishops' Conference .

On August 9, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. the resignation submitted by Albert-Marie de Monléon for reasons of age.
