Marcel Ruschmeier (born August 20, 1995 in Osnabrück ) is a German football player on the position of a defender ( central defender ) and midfielder . In 2018 he made his debut for the professional team of VfL Osnabrück in the German 3rd division .

Career

Via SSC Dodesheide to VfL Osnabrück

Marcel Ruschmeier was born on August 20, 1995, grew up in the Osnabrück district of Dodesheide and began his career as a football player in the youth of SSC Dodesheide . In 2005 he and two friends moved to the junior division of VfL Osnabrück and in the following years went through all the junior teams. In 2009/10 he was still active as a regular player in the North Season of the C Junior National League, in which he scored four goals in 21 league games. He acted as extremely dangerous in the following season 2010/11 when he contributed a total of eight goals in eleven championship appearances in the B-Junioren-Landesliga Weser-Ems. He scored all eight goals in the last three championship games, including four goals in a 19-0 victory over TuS Lingen .

In the 2011/12 season Ruschmeier alternated between the A-Junioren-Bundesliga North / Northeast and the B-Junioren-Bundesliga North / Northeast. With both teams he reached positions in the middle of the table in the final ranking. After appearances in the A-Junioren-Bundesliga 2012/13 , when Ruschmeier and his team finished fourth in the season north / north-east and was used in all 26 championship games, as well as contributed two goals and three assists, the Defensive player also in 2013/14 as a regular on the defensive of the Osnabrück A-Juniors.

After he was not in the squad in the first three rounds, he completed the remaining 23 league games and had a record of three hits and one assist. The former professional Roland Twyrdy , at that time U-19 coach at Osnabrück, mainly sat him as a right defender and less often in central defense. Due to his performance in the A-Juniors, the then 18-year-old also made it to the second team of VfL Osnabrück at the end of the season . On March 2, 2014, he made his debut in the 19th round of the championship in a 2-2 home draw against Lüneburg SK Hansa when he came on the pitch for Felix Stehr in the 71st minute of play. This season he also played at the international indoor soccer tournament SOLARLUX indoor festival .

Breakthrough in men's football

From the 2014/15 season , Ruschmeier was only used in the Lower Saxony Oberliga . He scored twice in 24 league appearances and contributed just as many assists. In the sometimes very tightly staggered final table, the second team of VfL Osnabrück ranked in the new place. In the 2015/16 season he continued to act as a regular in the league team under the new coach Marko Tredup and scored four goals in 26 league appearances. In the again closely staggered final table, Osnabrück took eighth place. In addition, he also completed numerous games in tournaments and competitions in indoor soccer. In the summer of 2016, he already completed test matches for the professional team and did the preparatory work for a 1: 2 defeat against FC Porto . In the final ranking, the athletically successful team took fourth place. After he was still on the defensive as a regular player in the 2016/17 season and scored two goals in 26 championship appearances, VfL Osnabrück's second team was disbanded at the end of the season in order to concentrate more on so-called perspective players. In the final ranking, the athletically successful team took fourth place.

As one of these perspective players, Ruschmeier spent the 2017/18 season in the so-called perspective squad, but sat on the substitute bench of the professional team at irregular intervals from the start of the 2017/18 season. Already at the beginning of the season, the wholesaler and foreign trade clerk, who had just completed his training at a vehicle parts dealer in Osnabrück, signed his first professional contract with a term of one year. In the preparation for the season as well as during the winter break, Ruschmeier was also regularly used in test matches. It was not until the penultimate match day, when relegation was already assured, that coach Daniel Thioune used him in a 1-1 home draw against Werder Bremen's second team from the 29th minute onwards for the injured Marc Wachs . For Ruschmeier this was the only competitive appearance in men's football this season; In the final ranking, VfL Osnabrück ranked 17th in the table. Three days after his professional debut, Ruschmeier was injured in a benefit game; a day later, the departure of the defender with an expiring contract became known.
