Marcella Bella

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marcella Bella (* 18th June 1952 in Catania , Sicily , as Giuseppa Marcella Bella ), even Marcella is an Italian pop singer .

Career

Marcella Bella is the younger sister of the musician Gianni Bella , who later wrote many of her hits. She started singing and taking part in singing competitions as a child. In 1965 she won the Festival degli Sconosciuti in Ariccia , but was disqualified because she was actually too young. Her first single Il pagliaccio recorded the singer in 1969; subsequently she performed at the Cantagiro and the Mostra internazionale di musica leggera in Venice . She had her first small success in 1971 with the single Hai ragione tu .

The following year she took part in the Sanremo Festival for the first time with the song Montagne verdi, which her brother co -wrote , and achieved seventh place; she reached number three in the charts. In the same year she returned to Cantagiro with Sole che nasce, sole che muore and presented Un sorriso e poi perdonami at Canzonissima . In 1973 Bella won the Festivalbar competition with Io domani (ex aequo with Mia Martinis Minuetto ), in 1974 she came third with Nessuno mai . In the following years she also appeared at Festivalbar, so in 1980 with Baciami : The B-side of the single, Rio de Janeiro became a secret cult song.

At the Sanremo Festival in 1981 the singer was ninth with Pensa per te . Her singles Canto straniero and Mi mancherai were much more successful this year . In 1983, like her brother, she began working with Mogol . The first fruit of this collaboration was the song Nell'aria (written by Gianni Bella and Mogol) and the album of the same name, which also gave the singer a new, more sensual image . The following year the album Nel mio cielo puro followed . In 1985, the Bella siblings performed together with L'ultima poesia at Festivalbar.

In 1986 Bella returned to Sanremo and came third with Senza un briciolo di testa . This was followed by a sixth place ( 1987 with Tanti auguri ) and a fourth place ( 1988 with Dopo la tempesta ). Together with her brother, she also entered the race at Sanremo in 1990 : the duet Verso l'ignoto came in fifth. Her other publications in the course of the 90s (often in collaboration with her brother) had little success, and she rarely appeared in public. It wasn't until 2003 that she returned from oblivion with the Sony album Passato e presente .

With Uomo bastardo , Bella returned to Sanremo in 2005 and reached the final and second place in the Classic category . Once again, two years later , she returned and presented in a duet with her brother forever per semper ; they did not make it into the top ten entries, but then reached number 14 on the charts.
