Marcus Davenport (* 4. September 1996 in San Antonio , Texas ) is an American American football poker players in the position of defensive end for the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at UTSA and was first-round drafted by the Saints in the 2018 NFL Draft .

High school

Davenport attended John Paul Stevens High School in San Antonio, Texas, where he played high school football. Shortly after graduating from high school, he decided against an offer from the UNLV and went to UTSA to play college football.

college

Davenport played for UTSA from 2014 to 2017. As a senior, he was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 after posting 55 tackles and 8.5 sacks. During his college career, he had a total of 185 tackles and 21.5 sacks . Davenport graduated from UTSA in 2017.

NFL

Davenport was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was the second defender drafted that year , after Bradley Chubb . On May 10, 2018, Davenport signed his rookie deal with the Saints. In Week 3, Davenport posted his first career bag in beating the Atlanta Falcons . In week 8, beating the Minnesota Vikings , he had two sacks in one game.

'In the second week of the 2019 season in the 9:27 loss to the Los Angeles Rams , Davenport had a sack against Jared Goff . In the 31:24 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Davenport was able to score two sacks against Jameis Winston . On Thanksgiving , Davenport Matt Ryan sank twice in the 26:18 win over the Atlanta Falcons . Among them was a strip sack that was captured by teammate Vonn Bell . On December 11, 2019, Davenport was placed on the Injured Reserve List with a foot injury . He finished the season with 31 tackles, six sacks, and three forced fumbles in 13 games played.
