Maren Sell (* 1945 in Zweibrücken ) is a German journalist , writer and publisher . She has lived in Paris since the 1960s .

Life

Maren Sell was born in Zweibrücken in 1945 as the daughter of an engineer. She studied German and Romance languages at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg . During her linguistic studies she was a member of the Socialist German Student Union (SDS). After meeting the activist Jean-Marcel Bouguereau in 1968, she went to Paris. In France she met u. a. on Guy Hocquenghem and Henri Weber . She later worked as a freelance journalist and translator . She became a member of the Gauche prolétarienne (GP) Maoist party , which was founded during the Paris May . From 1972 to 1974 she was a women's editor at the left-liberal French daily Liberation . She was also active in the women's liberation movement (FFB).

In 1986 she founded the Maren Sell Editeurs publishing house , where authors such as Yann Andréa, Stéphane Zagdanski and Anouar Benmalek publish. Autobiographies appeared a. a. about Ari Boulogne, Christine Deviers-Joncour , Régine and Loana . For her program Dialog 1992 she invited Günter Grass and Françoise Giroud . In 2004 the publishing house was taken over by the Libella Group, which dissolved the publishing program in 2007.

Maren Sell lives and works in the Latin Quarter in Paris. She is married and has three children. In 2012 she was a member of the founding committee of the Prix ​​Mychkine cultural award at the Karlsruhe University of Art and Design .
