Margareta Strömstedt
Margareta Strömstedt (born May 19, 1931 in Lagan ) is a Swedish writer , journalist and translator .
Life
Margareta Strömstedt spent the first eleven years of her life in Lagan, then moved with her family to Torpsbruk and later to Moheda. Her father was pastor of a parish of the Swedish Mission Church . She attended secondary school in Alvesta , studied in Växjö and was trained as a primary school teacher in Lund . She graduated from Lund University with a master's degree in philosophy . In 1953 she married Bo Strömstedt and moved with him to Stockholm . Here she first worked as a journalist for Dagens Nyheter and later as a television producer. Her literary debut took place in 1961 with the fairy tale book Fjärilar i klassen . The following year the imaginative children's book Kom tillbaka, lilla Jenny! . Strömstedt described her growing up in five autobiographical books about Maijken (in the German translation Kerstin). The main character of the novel Församlingen under jorden is a sixteen-year-old boy whose role model is Strömstedt's younger brother, who committed suicide as an adult. In this book she tried to come to terms with the tragedy. Margareta Strömstedt also wrote the text for several picture books such as Lille Morfar . With the youth novel Gå mot solen she tried her hand at a new genre. In 1977 Margareta Strömstedt finished her great biography about Astrid Lindgren , which was also published in Germany.
