In Roßfeld , a district of Bad Rodach , the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Margareta is located at Streufdorfer Straße 14 . It is a listed building . The patron saint is Margaret of Antioch .
history
Roßfeld was first mentioned in a document in 1234, the church in 1350. The choir is from this time. The church was probably donated by the noble family Heßberg , who lived here at the time , as their coat of arms is on one of the consoles in the choir room. Only the outer walls of this building are preserved. The baptismal font from 1596 is a little younger. During the Thirty Years' War the church burned down inside. On June 6, 1651, the parish of Roßfeld and Rudelsdorf broke away from Bad Rodach and became independent. Since September 1st, 2014 the parish Roßfeld-Rudelsdorf belongs to the parish Elsa.
Building description
In 1661 a new pulpit was installed, and in 1750 the nave was rebuilt. There are galleries and a shallow barrel vault in the church hall built. In 1766 the spire was renewed. In 1847 the paintings on the ceiling and the balustrades of the galleries were hidden under a layer of plaster . During the renovation in the 1950s, they were exposed again and restored . The Trinity is depicted on the ceiling . The pictures in the upper gallery show stories from the Old Testament , those of the lower ones describe the Gospels of the New Testament . During the renovation, the choir room was redesigned. The former high altar was replaced by a table altar.
There are three bells hanging in the church tower . The big bell has been calling for services since 1674 . The second bell was added in 1716, and a third in 1766. The third was smashed at the end of the First World War for the extraction of non-ferrous metal. A new third bell has been hanging in the tower since 1982.
