Margarita Höhenrieder

Margarita Höhenrieder (* 1956 in Munich ) is a German pianist and professor at the Munich University of Music and Theater .

biography

Höhenrieder studied piano with Anna Stadler and Ludwig Hoffmann in Munich and with Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore , USA. In 1981 she won first prize at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano . In 1984 she received a professorship at the University of Music in Würzburg and in 1991 succeeded Ludwig Hoffmann at the University of Music and Theater in Munich.

As a soloist , Höhenrieder a. a. with the conductors Kirill Petrenko , Claudio Abbado , Lorin Maazel , James Levine , Riccardo Chailly , Fabio Luisi and with orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Munich Philharmonic , the New York Philharmonic , the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden , the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig , the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra .

She had a long friendship with Harald Genzmer . He dedicated the concerto for piano, trumpet and strings to her, which she premiered with Guy Touvron, trumpet, and the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn . Harald Genzmer composed his last major work for Höhenrieder, Like a dream on the edge of infinity for piano and flute. In 2009 she premiered it with the flautist Emmanuel Pahud in Rome.

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the city of Friedrichshafen in July 2011, Höhenrieder and the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn gave a concert in the Dornier Museum .

Soloists like u. a. Kit Armstrong , Julius Berger , wind instruments from the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden , Alfred Brendel , Eduard Brunner , Gewandhaus-Quartett , Sabine Meyer , Emmanuel Pahud , Peter Sadlo , Guy Touvron and Reiner Wehle played together with Margarita Höhenrieder.
