Reiner Wehle (born May 27, 1954 in Kiel ) is a German clarinetist , author and professor at the Lübeck University of Music .

Life

Wehle completed his studies in Hanover with Hans Deinzer and in Paris with Guy Deplus . After prizes in the “ Jugend musiziert ” competitions, he was accepted into the Federal Youth Orchestra and later into the “ Young German Philharmonic ”. From 1979 to 1981 he was a participant in the 23rd and 24th Federal Selection Concerts of Young Artists .

As a member of the Chalumeau quintet, Reiner Wehle won prizes at the international music competitions in Colmar and Martigny and at the ARD competition in Munich . As a soloist he won prizes in Prague and Toulon . In 1979 he won first prize at the German Music Competition in Bonn .

After five years with the Munich Philharmonic under Sergiu Celibidache , Reiner Wehle became Principal Clarinet in 1985 in the Radio Philharmonic Hanover of the NDR . He also works as a chamber musician as a member of the Trio di Clarone, the Sabine Meyer wind ensemble and the Kontraste ensemble. He also gives concerts as a duo with the pianist Friederike Richter and as a partner in various string quartets.

Wehle was a soloist with the Munich Philharmonic , the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin and the Radio Philharmonic of the NDR . Concert tours led him a. a. to Japan, Africa, South Asia and the CIS.

Reiner Wehle produced several sound carriers for EMI -Classics, Thorofon, ambitus and Novalis. He received the “Echo Prize” twice for recordings of the year (1999 for the chamber music recording of the year with the clarinet trios by Brahms and Zemlinsky with the Kontraste ensemble and in 2000 for the recording of modern wind works by the Sabine Meyer wind ensemble).

Reiner Wehle taught in master classes. He is a jury member at the ARD competition and the German music competition. Since 1993 he has - together with his wife Sabine Meyer - a professorship at the Musikhochschule Lübeck.
