Margit Eschenbach

Margit Eschenbach (born May 9, 1948 in Lübeck ) is a German filmmaker , university teacher and photographer .

Life

Eschenbach studied history, social sciences and education in Frankfurt / Main, which she completed with a state examination in 1971 and a diploma in 1975.

From 1975 to 1978 she was involved in the development and co-management of the Hermann Hesse School, a comprehensive school for former drug addicts in Frankfurt / Main. From 1978 to 1988 she worked as a freelance sound engineer in feature films, documentaries and series for cinema and TV. Since 1985 she has made her own films as a writer, director, and producer.

From 1982 to 1991 she was a lecturer at the Berlin Film and Television Academy , visiting professor at the University of Fine Arts, Hamburg, lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts and a lecturer at the University of Zurich. Between 1992 and 2009 she worked on the establishment and management of the film / video department at the former Zurich University of Art and Design (HGKZ), now the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), and received a professorship. In 2000 Eschenbach was head of the research project (KTI): Innovative approaches to the presentation of media works of art using the example of VIPER (International Festival for Film, Video and New Media) Basel.

In 1990 Eschenbach was a member of the Hamburg Film Funding Committee . Since 1994 she has been a member of the board of trustees of Hyper-Forum, Basel, foundation for research funding in the field of digital technology. In addition, from 1997 to 2004 she was a member of the board of VIPER, the International Film, Video and Multimedia Festival, Lucerne / Basel and from 1998 to 1999 a board member of the Shedhalle Zurich .
