MarieMarie , bourgeois Maria Scheiblhuber (* 1984 in Bobingen ), is a German singer, music producer , composer , songwriter and instrumentalist (harp and piano) with a broad interest in different types of music, including pop music , electronic music , hip-hop, Alternative rock , jazz , folk music and classical music . As MarieMarie, she created the term “Folktronic-Pop”, which is rooted in the folk tradition and is oriented towards electro-pop . This is what her debut album Dream Machine (2014) stood for.

Life

MarieMarie grew up in Friedberg near Augsburg . She started playing the harp as a child. The musician performed in various instrumental ensembles and school bands from an early age. B. with Age Of Harp. At 15 she started writing her first songs. Under her real name she played one of the two harps for the doctors album Unplugged - Rock 'n' Roll Realschule (2002). After graduating from high school in 2004, she studied harp with Felize Pomeranz as a scholarship holder at the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2006/2007. After completing her studies, she returned to Germany in 2007. There she played as a singer-songwriter in a variety of clubs and bars, performed under the pseudonym "Kitty Royale" in 2008 and played with the "Kitty Royale Trio" at the opening of the Salzburg Festival . From 2007 to 2010 she was a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Foundation. During this time she recorded with musicians such as Chester Thompson and Peter Weihe, until she was signed to Universal Music in 2012 with the stage name MarieMarie.

In 2014 she took part in the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen with the titles Cotton Candy Hurricane and Candy Jar , where she reached the second round of the best four.

Career

From 2009–2015 she toured all over Germany under the alias MarieMarie and supported Bryan Ferry and the Pet Shop Boys in Munich.
