Mariafe Artacho del Solar (born October 24, 1993 in Lima , Peru) is an Australian beach volleyball player .

Career

Artacho started playing beach volleyball at the age of eleven after moving to Australia from her native Peru. In 2007 she took part in an open tournament of the FIVB World Tour with Taylor Schulz in Montreal for the first time . In the same year the duo reached the 29th place at the World Youth Championships in Mysłowice . In 2008 the Australian U19 champion and Zina Stone climbed to 19th place in the same competition in The Hague . She also achieved this result at the 2009 Junior World Championships in Blackpool with Jennifer Sadler . At the 2011 Youth World Cup in Umag , Artacho and Nicole Laird came ninth. They also played the 2012 Sanya Open before Artacho formed a duo with Taliqua Clancy , who finished third at the Junior World Championships in Halifax . After 13th place at the Bang Saen Open, Artacho / Clancy finished fourth in the Asian Championship. In 2013, Artacho achieved top placings on the national tour with five different partners, before she competed with Jessyka Ngauamo for the first time on the Continental Tour and also always made it into the top ten. Artacho / Ngauamo played their first Grand Slam in Corrientes . At the world championships of the U23 in Mysłowice and the U21 in Umag they came in seventeenth and ninth. At the 2013 World Cup in Stare Jabłonki they were eliminated without a win after the preliminary round. In 2014 Artacho became the U23 World Champion alongside Nicole Laird in Mysłowice. At the 2015 World Championships in the Netherlands Artacho / Laird occupied 17th place and at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 19th Place After that separated the two.

In 2017 Artacho played with Brittany Kendall , again with Jessyka Ngauamo and with Phoebe Bell . Taliqua Clancy has been her partner again since October 2017. The two Australians had numerous top ten results on the 2017/18 World Tour and won the tournaments in Qinzhou , Sydney , Lucerne and Espinho . They finished third at the World Tour Final in Hamburg and then won the Asian Championship. In 2019, Clancy / Artacho continued their successful streak. In April she became Asian champions again and on the World Tour they came third in Xiamen , second in Jinjiang and won in Warsaw . At the World Championships in Hamburg they won the bronze medal.
