Mariam Kaba (born August 9, 1961 in Beyla , Guinea ) is a French- Guinean actress .

Life

Mariam Kaba was born in Guinea in 1961 as the daughter of a diplomat. In the early 1980s she moved to Paris and, after graduating from high school, enrolled at the EFAP , a private training center for press attachés, though less out of her own interest in a journalistic career than following her father's wishes. She neglected her studies to take acting classes , especially that of Isabelle Sadoyan . Nevertheless, she received her diploma as a press attaché and played her first cinema roles , for example in Nicolas Ribowski's Périgord noir and Gérard Oury's secret mission Strawberry Vanilla (Vanille Fraise) .

In the 1990s she played the female lead in Samba Traoré , directed by Burkinabe filmmaker Idrissa Ouédraogo . She worked with the Guinean actor and director Cheik Doukouré on his three film productions. For Raoul Peck she played the main female role in Lumumba as the wife of Patrice Lumumba , alongside Eriq Ebouaney in the role of the Congolese national hero.

She was a jury member at several international film festivals: 1997 at FESPACO , 2000 at Carthage Film Days and 2003 at the Amiens International Film Festival .
