Marian Danowski

Marian Ignacy Danowski (* 1952 ) is a Swiss literary agent and political activist based in the city of Zurich . Since its naturalization of native candidate poles as a non-party repeatedly unsuccessful for various political offices. He has sparked a public debate about the abuse of civil rights .

Candidacies

In the elections on February 8, 2009, Danowski applied for all available offices in the city of Zurich: city council, city council, justice of the peace, governor, district council and substitute member of the district council. In the city ​​council elections in Zurich on March 7, 2010, he achieved the worst result of all candidates with 254 valid votes out of 211,000 eligible voters (74,000 voters).

Individual initiatives

Even the right to individual initiatives at the local council to submit the city of Zurich, made Danowski intensive use. His more than 200 initiatives by the end of 2008 often revolved around reducing government spending, suspending unimportant city services, or banning things that bother him. As a rule, they were rejected by parliament without a dissenting vote or declared invalid.

Discussion about abuse of law

Since Danowski's candidacies - so far without any chance - entail considerable effort and high costs for the communities, the question of an abuse of the right to stand as a candidate is raised. In Zurich, the electoral office clarified whether Danowski could be excluded from an election campaign, which the responsible authorities rejected as an interference with basic democratic rights. In autumn 2004, however, Danwoski was acquitted of the charge of election fraud by the Zurich district court.

In March 2009, Danowski ran as a candidate for municipal council in Zurich. He had obtained the required signatures by deliberately deceiving passers-by. The city council then declared his candidacy invalid. He did not accept this and took the case to the district court , which upheld the city council's decision. Danowski moved the case to the Administrative Court, where his appeal was dismissed in 2010. The court came to the conclusion that Danowski misinformed passers-by when collecting signatures and deliberately deceived them. He had to pay the court fee of 2,000 francs himself, as this was not the first time and he had abused the right to vote.
