Marianne Ahrne (born May 25, 1940 in Lund ) is a Swedish director , screenwriter and writer .

Life

Ahrne grew up in Falköping and studied literature and drama in the USA . She continued her studies at Lund University and graduated with a master's degree in philosophy . She already worked as an actress and director at the student theater , played professional theater in Avignon for six months and taught French at Umeå University from 1966 to 1967 . From 1967 to 1969 she attended directing courses at the Swedish Film Institute and has since worked professionally as a director, screenwriter, writer and film editor . She has worked on over forty films, including documentaries , television series, and feature films . Ahrne wrote all of her films herself and adapted Flickan video benches , most of them in collaboration with Bertrand Hurault, an actor and director from Avignon. So far, she has edited almost all films herself. From 2004 to 2006, Ahrne worked as a consultant in the field of feature films at the Swedish Film Institute.

In 1980 she made her debut as a writer with Äppelblom och ruiner , a novel about the friendship between a schizophrenic man and an author.

Ahrne often describes contact problems between men and women in her works, as in the 1976 feature film Långt borta och nra , the documentary Gott om pojkar, ont om men? from 1995 and the novel Katarina Horowitz drömmar from 1990. Like the novel Fader okänd (German father unknown ), the television series Maskrosbarn (German dandelion child ) has autobiographical traits. The book tells about the relationship between a young Swedish small town girl and her long-absent Czech father.

Today Ahrne lives in Stockholm .
