Marianne Gesswagner

Marianne Gesswagner (born March 26, 1977 in Ottnang am Hausruck ) is an Austrian opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Gesswagner studied solo singing with Birgit Greiner at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz and graduated with a diploma.

In 1998 she received a solo obligation for master class ( Masterclass ) by Terrence McNally at the Linz State Theater and in the 2000/01 season at the Bavarian State Playhouse Munich, with whom she guest performances in Shanghai completed. She performed at song recitals, concerts and church concerts at home and abroad and in 2000 received a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association in Linz. In 2001 and 2003 she continued her studies at the State Conservatory "Guido Cantelli" in Novara .

Already during her studies she gained first stage experience and appeared as Lady Billows in the opera Albert Herring by Benjamin Britten , as Eurydice in Orfeo ed Euridice by Christoph Willibald Gluck and at the theater "Coccia" in Novara as Eurydice in Orpheus in the underworld of Jacques Offenbach on the stage.

Guest performances have taken her to Venice , Lille , Treviso , Monte-Carlo , Lucca , Pisa , Ravenna and other opera houses in Europe. She made her debut as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel in Caracas .

  • 2005: Finalist and winner of the special “Karl Böhm” prize for the best Mozart interpretation at the “Ferruccio Tagliavini” international singing competition
  • 2005: 2nd prize at the Belvedere International Singing Competition for Operetta
  • 2006: Awarded as "suitable" for the role of Marguerite ( Faust )
