Marie Isabelle Gülich (born May 28, 1994 in Altenkirchen ) is a German basketball player .

career

Gülich played for Rhöndorfer TV and from the 2011/12 season in the 2nd Bundesliga for SG BBZ Opladen. The internet service eurobasket.com named her the best indoor player in the 2nd Bundesliga North in the 2011/12 season. In the 2012/13 season, Gülich came to play in the shirt of the first division club New Basket Oberhausen in addition to her appearances for Opladen .

She began studying at Oregon State University in the United States in 2014 and was on the college's basketball team for the next four years. In the 2015/16 game year Gülich advanced to the four best teams in the NCAA with Oregon State  , 2015/16 and 2016/17 each in the top 16, in the 2017/18 season she was eliminated with Oregon State in the round of eight . She achieved the best mean values at university level in her final season 2017/18, when she averaged 17.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.8 blocked throws per encounter. Both values were the best values in their team this season. In addition, she posted a very high hit rate of 65.2 percent over the course of the season. In the "Pac-12" league she was named the best defender of the 2017/18 season. However, she had to share this title with another player (Jordin Canada from UCLA ).

In April 2018, the Phoenix Mercury secured  the rights to Gülich in twelfth place in the first selection round in the "Draft" procedure of the US league WNBA . In May 2018, she made her debut for Phoenix in the WNBA in the game against Dallas. In the main round of the 2018 WNBA season, Gülich was used in 23 games and scored an average of 1.5 points as well as a rebound per encounter. In the playoffs, she was not on the field. In July 2018 she was signed by the Italian first division team Reyer Venezia , with whom she also took part in the elimination round for the Euroleague, but could not qualify for the most important European Cup competition. Gülich assessed her playing year at the Italian club as "not very successful, especially when it comes to basketball." After the end of the 2018/19 season, she began her second year in the WNBA, she had been signed by Atlanta Dream as part of an exchange deal .

For the 2019/20 season, Gülich moved to Arka Gdynia in the Polish Women's Basketball League and the Euroleague Women . In February 2020, her move in the WNBA from Atlanta to the Los Angeles Sparks was announced. Shortly afterwards, the season in Poland ended due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland , Gdynia was crowned champion as the unbeaten first in the main round (21 wins in 21 games). She then moved to the Eurocup Women participant Valencia Basket Club in the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto .
