Life

Irina and Marina Fabrizius were born five minutes apart. Her parents, Kazakh Germans , who ran a small farm in addition to their work, relocated with their daughters in 1990. They moved to Mengen in Baden-Württemberg , where the sister of the paternal grandmother lived. After graduating from high school, the twins first studied at the Free Art Academy in Nürtingen from 2000 to 2004 . Then they applied to the Düsseldorf Art Academy to study painting, which they began from 2006 to 2007 in Udo Dziersk's class . They then attended Herbert Brandl's class until 2015. They had been a master class student there since 2012 . During their studies, they began to paint pictures only together. Their final presentation in 2014, which they held together, was unique in the history of the academy. They exhibited their final theses publicly during a tour in February 2015 .

Irina and Marina Fabrizius paint abstract glaze pictures in which they represent their main theme "Light in light lines and light circles". The pictures are created over a period of several months in 12 to 15 layers and are painted by both of them together. They refer to the color field painter Mark Rothko as their artistic role model .

The twins live and work in Düsseldorf . Their joint painting, which they signed with the artist name Fabrizius² , soon created an unusually large sensation in the media, including on various television channels. In March 2015, WDR television reported on the show Here and Today with the documentary The art of being for two about the two artists. On May 29, 2015, they appeared on the NDR Talk Show . The British broadcaster BBC World News also broadcast a TV report about them in May 2015.
