Mario Calabresi (born February 17, 1970 in Milan ) is an Italian journalist .

Life

Mario Calabresi is the son of Gemma Capra and the police officer Luigi Calabresi , who was victim of a terrorist attack by supporters of the Lotta Continua in May 1972 . He studied law and history at the University of Milan . He then attended the “Carlo de Martino” journalism school in Milan and began working in 1998 as a parliamentary correspondent for the ANSA news agency . From 1999 he worked as a political editor at La Repubblica . Between 2000 and 2002 he moved to La Stampa and analyzed the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 .

Calabresi returned to La Repubblica and worked for them in 2007 as a foreign correspondent in New York City , from where he covered the 2008 presidential election .

In April 2009 he became editor-in-chief of La Stampa , succeeding Giulio Anselmi . At the beginning of 2016, he succeeded Ezio Mauro as editor-in-chief of La Repubblica.

Calabresi is married to Caterina Ginzburg, a granddaughter of Natalia Ginzburg , and they have twin daughters.
