Mario Kelentrić (born January 31, 1973 in Gradačac , Yugoslavia ) is a former Croatian handball player . His height is 1.90 m.
Career
Mario Kelentrić signed his first professional contract with RK Agram Medveščak Zagreb . With his club he was always in the top group of the league, but never managed to get past the series champion Badel Zagreb . When he asked Kelentrić in 1999, he didn't hesitate and switched to city rivals. With Zagreb he won the championship and cup in 2000 and 2001. In 2001 Kelentrić joined the Slovenian series champion RK Celje ; but just in the 2001/02 season Celje missed the championship. Then Kelentric returned to his homeland, where he first played for half a year with RK Metković Jambo before his old club, which was now called RK Zagreb again, took him under contract. There he won the championship and cup again in 2003 and 2004. In 2004 moved to the German handball league for TUSEM Essen . Although he won the 2005 EHF Cup with his new club ; however, Essen had to relegate to the regional league in 2005, so Kelentrić returned to his hometown club RK Agram Medveščak Zagreb. In 2006 he moved again to Saint Marcel Vernon in the French second division, where he wanted to end his career. In 2007, however, he received an offer from Bundesliga club MT Melsungen that prompted Kelentrić to change clubs again. Kelentrić takes part in the HBL All-Star Game 2009 . In 2012 Kelentrić announced that he would like to end his handball career after the 2011/12 season. Despite his plans, the goalkeeper signed another contract with the Croatian first division club RK Zagreb in August 2012.
Mario Kelentrić has played 86 international matches for the Croatian men's national handball team . With his country he won the 1997 Mediterranean Games in Bari. At the men's handball world championship in 2003 he was world champion with his country.
