Marisa Del Frate

Marisa Del Frate (born March 11, 1931 in Rome , Italy ; † February 6, 2015 there ) was an Italian singer and actress who was mainly active in the 1950s and 1960s.

Career

After working as a model for a few years and taking part in a number of beauty pageants, she unexpectedly won first prize with the song Malinconia autunno ("Autumn Melancholy") when she made her debut at the 1957 Naples Festival . The following year she took part in the Sanremo Festival with two songs: È molto facile dirsi addio (“It's too easy to say goodbye”) and Ho disegnato un cuore (“I have drawn a heart”). However, she didn't make it into the final with either of them. In the same year she chose Erminio Macario for the revue Chiamate Arturo 777 as soubrette , which started her long career as a showgirl .

In addition, she played entertainment theater with well-known actors from this period such as Charles Dapporto , Giustino Durano and Gino Bramieri . In the cinema she has appeared in a number of film comedies . She gained Italian popularity in 1961 with sketches , songs, parodies and imitations on the television program L'amico del giaguaro ("The Jaguar's Friend") alongside Gino Bramieri, Raffaele Pisu and Corrado Mantoni .

In the following years she was similarly successful with programs such as Il naso finto (“The wrong nose”), hosted by Paolo Ferrari , and La trottola (“The roundabout”) again with Corrado Mantoni. For personal reasons, she withdrew from the public for a long time before she appeared on the Macario show in 1978 on the occasion of Ermino Macario's 50th stage anniversary.

In the 1980s she was featured in a few revival programs. Marisa Del Frate was known as la prima televenditrice ("The First TV Saleswoman ") because she was one of the first to present the then new type of teleshopping in programs such as Gran Bazar , which some northern Italian local stations broadcast. Most recently, she was a guest on the talk show Ricominciare on the state broadcaster RAI due in 2008 .
