Mark Jean

Mark Jean (born before 1985) is an American director , writer and film producer .

Life

Since Jean was interested in filmmaking at an early age, his path led him to San Diego State University , where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in telecommunications and film. This was followed by a scholarship at the American Film Institute with the aim of obtaining a master’s degree .

In the following years, Jean proved to be a versatile director who was active in various genres, which also included television pilots, as well as film dramas and film comedies and thrillers. The film Homecoming (1996), starring Anne Bancroft and Bonnie Bedelia , which he directed, received awards at numerous film festivals, including the Festival's Gold Award at the Houston International Film Festival. He also took first place at the New York Film Festival.

In 2012, Jean directed the psychological thriller Taken Back: Finding Haley, starring Moira Kelly and Amanda Tapping . The lifelike drama Finding a Family with Kim Delaney was followed by the animal film A Dog Named Duke with Steven Weber . Jean has also directed several Christmas films, starting with Christmas Babies in 2000 and continuing with The Road to Christmas and A Valentine Carol in 2007 . This genre also includes the romantic comedy Santa & Mrs. Claus (2012) with Mira Sorvino and Will Sasso , Shuffleton's Barbershop (2013), a father-son story about reconciliation with Danny Glover , and the romance The Christmas Ornament (2013) , which wraps around a Christmas tree ball and is occupied by Kellie Martin and Cameron Mathison. Two other Christmas films, dated 2014, are Mom's Day Away and The Nine Lives of Christmas

Jean is also the author and co-writer of numerous scripts, including the historical drama Beast of Bataan , produced by Mel Brooks and Jonathan Sanger.

Awards

  • Mark Jean received the George Foster Peabody Award for a series of films for Fox Children's Network, as well as the 1994 CableACE Award , which he received with nine colleagues from the productions.
  • For Homecoming , Jean was nominated for the 1997 WGA Award (television) together with Christopher Carlson .
  • The film Finn On the Fly was recognized as the best future film in the category "Best Family Comedy" at the Sprockets Toronto Film Festival.
  • Jean received the Voya's Top Shelf Fiction Award for his novel Puddlejumpers .
