Mark S. Sisk
Mark Sean Sisk KStJ (born August 18, 1942 in Takoma Park , Maryland ) is an American Anglican clergyman of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America and Bishop of the Diocese of New York .
Life
After school, Sisk studied economics at the University of Maryland, College Park and achieved a Bachelor of Science in 1964. Then Sisk attended the General Theological Seminary in New York City , where he studied Anglican theology and achieved a Master of Divinity in 1967 . He received honorary doctorates in 1984 from General Theological Seminary and in 1998 from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary . Sisk was a curator for three years at Christ Episcopal Church in New Brunswick , New Jersey and then a priest for another three years at Christ Episcopal Church in Bronxville , New York . From 1973 to 1977 Sisk was rector of St John's Episcopal Church in Kingston , New York, and from 1977 to 1984 he was archdeacon under Bishop Paul Moore in the Episcopal Diocese of New York . From 1984 to 1998, Sisk was President and Dean of Seabury-Western Theological Seminary . Sisk is a member of the Third Order of the Anglican Society of St. Francis .
Sisk was elected Bishop Coadjutor of the Episcopal Diocese of New York in 1998 and was ordained bishop by Frank Tracy Griswold , Richard Frank Grein and Walter Decoster Dennis . On September 29, 2001, Sisk was ordained Bishop of New York at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine .
In 1963, Sisk married Karen Womack Calvert. The couple has three children.
