Mark Williams Ardington is a special effects artist and animator .
Life
Ardington began his career in the late 1990s and made his feature film debut with Paul Matthews ' family film The Lord of the Elves, starring Corbin Bernsen and Glynis Barber . Between 2006 and 2012 he worked primarily as an animator in television, working on the animated series The Top Secret Show and The Hive . From the mid-2010s he worked as a special effects artist on major film productions, including Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods and Kings , the Marvel - superhero film Ant-Man and the James Bond film James Bond 007: Specter .
In 2016 he won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects for Alex Garland's science fiction film Ex Machina, along with Andrew Whitehurst , Paul Norris and Sara Bennett . In the same year they were also nominated for the BAFTA Film Award in the category Best Visual Effects .
