Marko Olavi Myyry (born November 15, 1967 in Kerava ) is a former Finnish football player .

Career

Myyry made 59 full internationals for the Finnish national team and scored two goals. He played in midfield. He played for his Finnish home club FC Haka Valkeakoski u. a. next to his brother Mika Myyry . For the 1987/88 season he accepted an offer from the then promoted player to the 2nd Bundesliga SV Meppen . Until 1989 he played for the Emsland club 59 times (14 goals) in the 2nd Bundesliga and was instrumental in their relegation in the first two years of membership in the second division. Here he earned the nickname "lawn flea".

From 1989 to 1994 he played for SC Lokeren in the first Belgian league, which had become aware of him due to the good performance Myyrys in Meppen and in the Finnish national team and lured him to Belgium . One of Myyry's trainers in Lokeren was u. a. Aimé Anthuenis , who was also the coach of the Belgian national team .

In 1994 Myyry returned to SV Meppen and made a further 116 games (10 hits) for SV Meppen until relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga in 1998.

The Finn finally found his new home in Emsland and in 2001 moved to SV Blau-Weiß Dörpen in the Emsland district league, where he stayed until 2003. In 2005/06 he took the post of player coach at SV Lengerich - Handrup (1st district class Emsland Süd), but could not achieve any success there, so the club released him again before the winter break. In the summer of 2006, at the age of 38, he returned to SV Meppen for the third time, but now played for the second team (Emsland district league). The contacts came about through his former teammate Robert Thoben , who had already played at SV Meppen II the previous season and from now on was his teammate again after his professional time at SV Meppen.
